The U.S. Forest Service’s High Sierra Ranger District will conduct a prescribed fire near Camp Sierra, north of Shaver Lake, on Tuesday, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

Burn piles are expected to be ignited between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with smoke and flames visible across the Big Creek Drainage.

Officials said there is no need to call 911, as safety personnel will be on site monitoring the operation.

Prescribed burns are used to reduce wildfire risk and manage vegetation in forested areas.
