A Visalia school resource officer was arrested late Sunday after officers responded to a disturbance between a husband and wife, the department said.

Officers were called around 11:11 p.m. to the 3700 block of North Sallee Court, where they investigated the incident and arrested Matthew Conley, 47.

Conley was named officer of the year in 2019 by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office when he worked for that agency.

Conley was booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility on suspicion of domestic violence. The case will be forwarded to the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Conley, a six-year member of the department, has been placed on administrative leave while criminal and internal investigations proceed, the department said.

Police said the off-duty allegations do not reflect the department’s standards and that no further details will be released because the case is active and personnel matters are protected.
