Detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team have arrested two Clovis residents in connection with a 2019 Fowler homicide, authorities said.

Celeste Aguirre, 26, and Juan Cervantes Jr., 29, were booked into the Fresno County Jail and are each facing charges of murder, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

The case stems from the early morning hours of Feb. 26, 2019, when a school bus driver traveling along E. Springfield Avenue, outside Fowler, discovered a body on the side of the road near the intersection of Springfield and Claremont avenues, deputies said.

The driver reported the discovery to authorities.

Responding deputies found an 18-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as Jose Vasquez of Selma, officials said.
