Fresno Police Department officials say a two-week “Safe Summer Operation” resulted in 566 arrests, more than 3,000 combined traffic and pedestrian stops, and 38 firearms seized as part of a proactive effort aimed at reducing violent crime, curbing traffic offenses and improving safety for children and teens.

The operation began Thursday, June 10, and included curfew enforcement, parole and probation searches, and targeted gang enforcement across the city, according to the department.

Officers made 260 felony arrests and 306 misdemeanor arrests, while issuing 916 citations. They also conducted 1,990 traffic stops and 1,133 pedestrian stops, along with 116 vehicle tows.

Police said they contacted 605 documented gang members, conducted 81 parole searches resulting in 17 parole arrests, and 247 probation searches resulting in 38 probation arrests.

As part of curfew enforcement, officers made 228 juvenile curfew contacts, with juveniles reportedly safely returned to parents or guardians, who were also provided education on curfew laws, according to the department.

Officials also reported broader impacts from the operation, saying homicides leveled off and shootings declined during the period, contributing to a 10% year-to-date reduction in those categories.
