More than 90,000 Toyota, Lexus and Subaru vehicles have been recalled for ventilation issues that could impact visibility for drivers, increasing the risk of crashing.
A recall notice was released on Sept. 5 by Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recall includes 2023-2025 vehicles that may have faulty HVAC systems.
“An inoperative defroster and defogger system can decrease the driver’s visibility under certain driving conditions, increasing the risk of a crash,” the recall states.
Which Toyota, Lexus, Subaru Vehicles Are Being Recalled?
About 94,000 cars in the following models are part of the recall, according to the NHTSA notice:
- Subaru Solterra 2023-2025
- Toyota bZ4X 2023-2025
- Lexus RZ 2023-2025
What You Should Do
Owners with impacted vehicles should bring their car to a Toyota, Lexus or Subaru dealer and get the HVAC control software updated free of charge.
Dealers will also inspect the electrical compressor and replace it, if necessary, at no additional charge.
Owners will be notified on Oct. 20 by mail and my contact at Toyota’s customer service at 1-800-331-4331.
