Signs hung throughout fast-fashion clothing store Forever 21 show discounts ranging from 10% to 40% off the “entire store.”

And, a worker confirmed on Tuesday the discounts are leading up to the store’s closure, which still has “a ways to go.”

Signs went up over the weekend, the worker stated. An email sent to Forever 21 corporate was not returned before publication of this story.

The store closing comes as the Stamford Advocate reports that three of the six locations in Connecticut are closing.

Company leaders have been discussing how to turn the U.S. operations of the retailer around, including another Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, according to the Wall Street Journal. Mall giants Simon Property Group and Brookfield Corporation partnered with Authentic Brands Group to buy Forever 21 after it filed bankruptcy in 2020.

The group acquired not only Forever 21, but in recent years other mall mainstays such as JCPenney, Brooks Brothers, Aéropostale, and Eddie Bauer.

U.S. operations of the company are also looking for a buyer, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The company marketed itself as a source for low-priced clothing. The rise of Chinese-based companies Shein and Temu have gained market share in the fast fashion space in recent years.

A 2023 deal to sell on Shein only resulted in moderate success, the Wall Street Journal reported.

At one time, Forever 21 operated all three floors of its location at the east end of Fashion Fair. It has since been reduced to only the bottom floor.
