A stolen vehicle was involved in a multi-car crash Tuesday morning after a brief police pursuit in Visalia, the Visalia Police Department said in a statement.

Just before 7:50 a.m., Visalia police attempted to stop a vehicle at Mooney Boulevard and Mineral King Avenue.

Police said the suspect was driving a reported stolen car. He fled the scene in the vehicle, leading to a short pursuit.

Authorities said they canceled the chase for safety reasons.

Moments later, an officer located the stolen vehicle, which was involved in a crash at Mineral King Avenue and Demaree Street.

The driver ran a red light, causing a collision between three vehicles, police said.

The driver of the stolen car sustained injuries and was transported to Kaweah Health.
