A weeklong human trafficking operation in Fresno led to 31 arrests, 22 impounded vehicles, and the recovery of a firearm, the Fresno Police Department said in a statement Thursday.

The Fresno Police Department told GV Wire that the operation took place in the Madison Avenue and Sixth Street area in Fresno.

The operation, conducted the last week of January, involved the Fresno Police Department, Fresno County District Attorney’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Officers targeted sex workers and sex purchasers, citing their negative impact on residents and businesses.

During the operation, officers worked with Breaking the Chains and Fresno EOC Central Valley Against Human Trafficking to provide assistance to trafficking victims.

Officials said similar enforcement efforts will continue in the city.
