Human rights lawyer Gissou Nia will be the featured guest Tuesday night as “Unfiltered” explores Middle East turmoil and how the United States should respond.
Nia is the director of the Strategic Litigation Project at the Atlantic Council. The Strategic Litigation Project works on prevention and accountability efforts for atrocity crimes, human rights violations, terrorism, and corruption offenses around the world.
She also serves as board chair of the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center, where she is helping develop and oversee the group’s human rights advocacy and legal programs. This effort promotes accountability, respect for human rights, and the rule of law in Iran.
Nia started her career in The Hague, where she worked on war crimes and crimes against humanity trials at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the International Criminal Court.
About Unfiltered
Unfiltered host Darius Assemi, who is the publisher of GV Wire, will ask Nia about how Americans can best support the Iranians protesting the country’s repressive regime. He’ll also dig into other important issues such as China’s and Russia’s increasing influence in the Middle East.
Unfiltered live streams at 6 p.m. Tuesdays on gvwire.com, youtube.com, and facebook.com.
