ABC 30’s morning weather anchor is leaving the station.

Madeline Evans has been delivering the morning weather reports on “AM Live” and cut-ins on “Good Morning America.”

Evans announced Monday that her husband, a fighter pilot stationed at Lemoore Naval Air Station, has been reassigned. Her last day is Friday. She did not announce where she and her husband are headed.

“I just want to say thank you to this community for all the love and support you have shown not only to me but my family,” wrote on the station’s website.

Prior to joining ABC 30 in 2019, the South Carolina native worked at WKTR-TV in Norfolk, Virginia.

The station, owned by ABC/Disney, already posted for a new weather anchor. The job pays $65,000-$75,000.

Former Fresno DJ Dies

A former Fresno DJ passed away. Best known as “Cowboy Kawasaki,” Carl Kawasaki died on April 7, All Access reported. He was 61.

After graduating from Fresno State in 1982 where he worked at campus station KFSR, Kawasaki spent decades at several local radio stations.

He adopted the “Cowboy” persona at Kiss Country (KSKS-FM 93.7).

“I miss Carl Kawasaki and the talks we had. I want to reflect the love he had for all of us. Carl was a great human,” said Jennifer Wegermann-Conley in a Facebook post.

Cameraman Haar Retires

Randy Haar, a longtime A/V specialist at Fresno State, has retired and moved to Utah.

Haar was a constant presence at televised sporting events from Fresno State, working for virtually every network that broadcast games in nearly all sports. He often manned the 50-yard line camera at Bulldog/Valley Children’s Stadium.

On a personal note, Haar helped me with some of those televised sporting gigs and was always a friendly and helpful face.

At Least They Didn’t Call it ‘Houston’

I am a “Dallas” fan and am currently binge-watching the legendary TV drama. So, when Charlene Tilton — Lucy Ewing — appeared last week on Tamron Hall’s TV talk show, it was must watch.

Tilton talked about her life on set and the struggles she had in her career.

But Hall gave inaccurate information that would make even the passive “Dallas” watcher cringe.

In the introduction, Hall said Lucy was J.R. Ewing’s daughter. Nope. She was the bratty niece. And, Hall said Lucy’s 1981 TV wedding was witnessed by 65 million viewers. Nope. Records show that 28 million tuned in — second in the ratings that week behind the Super Bowl.

David Taub,

Curiosity drives David Taub. The award-winning journalist might be shy, but feels mighty with a recorder in his hand. He doesn't see it his job to "hold public officials accountable," but does see it to provide readers (and voters) the information needed to make intelligent choices. Taub has been honored with several writing awards from the California News Publishers Association. He's just happy to have his stories read. Joining GV Wire in 2016, Taub covers politics, government and elections, mainly in the Fresno/Clovis area. He also writes columns about local eateries (Appetite for Fresno), pro wrestling (Off the Bottom Rope), and media (Media Man). Prior to joining the online news source, Taub worked as a radio producer for KMJ and PowerTalk 96.7 in Fresno. He also worked as an assignment editor for KCOY-TV in Santa Maria, California, and KSEE-TV in Fresno. He has also worked behind the scenes for several sports broadcasts, including the NCAA basketball tournament, and the Super Bowl. When not spending time with his family, Taub loves to officially score Fresno Grizzlies games. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Taub is a die-hard Giants and 49ers fan.
