A Fresno County man accused of allegedly causing a fiery crash that killed four people now faces murder charges, the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

The statement said that his contact with various law enforcement made it seem that he was noticeably intoxicated.

A repeat drunk driver identified as Sean Allen Larry Guynes, 32, of Kerman, is charged with four counts of murder and two other felony counts related to the Friday crash at Floyd and Shaw avenues, according to officials.

Investigators say Guynes, driving a Ford E350 van, failed to yield at the intersection, colliding with a westbound Nissan Altima.

The crash caused both vehicles to burst into flames, killing the Altima’s driver and passenger, as well as two passengers in Guynes’ car.

The California Highway Patrol said Guynes initially claimed he was a passenger but was identified as the driver.

He was reportedly driving with a suspended license stemming from a 2018 DUI conviction.

Guynes had previously been warned in court about the risks of driving under the influence and the potential for murder charges if someone were killed as a result, officials said.

If convicted, Guynes could face up to 64 years to life in state prison, the DA’s Office said.

Fresno County has seen a sharp rise in fatal DUI-related crashes in 2025, with three incidents in the year’s first seven days, resulting in seven deaths.

Guynes remains in custody and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Fresno Superior Court.
