Fresno County Supervisor Sal Quintero said he’s in favor of “some form” of rent control at his Oct. 3 debate with Luis Chavez.

Chavez, a Fresno City Councilmember challenging Quintero for the District 3 seat, said that he opposes rent control because it makes it more difficult to build badly needed housing.

Proposition 33, which is on the Nov. 5 ballot, would empower local governments to enact rent control while forbidding the state from having any say on the matter.

Thursday’s debate was hosted by GV Wire, moderated by GV Wire News Director Bill McEwen, and produced by the Community Access Collaborative. View the full debate at this link.
