Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer has a goal for Saturday, April 20. The city will sparkle top to bottom, east to west, and north to south.
It’s a big undertaking. And he’s asking you to help at one of 20 cleanup locations for Beautify Fresno’s Great American Cleanup.
“From the day I took office as mayor, I had a mission to restore Fresno’s curb appeal and build a new sense of pride in our city,” Dyer said Monday in a news release. “It’s been our constant focus, and I couldn’t be prouder of the results — but we can’t stop now. Our community is looking better because we keep working hard to make it cleaner and safer.”
Last year, more than 1,700 volunteers picked up nearly 16,000 pounds of trash and litter from streets, parks, highway embankments, and riverfronts, while also removing over 50,000 square feet of graffiti in two hours.
The 20 cleanup locations cover every area of Fresno, including Downtown, Chinatown, Highway City, and Woodward Park. All are listed at the bottom of this story with the links to sign up.
Volunteers of all ages — along with groups, clubs, and businesses —are welcome to participate.
Free Volunteers Party Afterward
Beautify Fresno will provide all the cleanup materials for the event, and each participant gets a free event t-shirt. Volunteers also will receive an invitation to an outdoor “thank you” after-party in the Fresno Grizzlies’ parking lot. The party includes free food from local food trucks, music, and activities for the kids.

1. Calwa Park area – co-hosted by Calwa Recreation & Park District
The event will clean up in the Calwa Park area bordered by Florence, Cedar, Jensen, and Maple avenues.
2. Chinatown – co-hosted by Green S Welfare Force
The event will clean up Chinatown bordered by Fresno Street, E Street, Ventura Avenue, and G Street.
3. CRMC Area – co-hosted by the Bridge Church
The event will clean up the portion of downtown around the Community Regional Medical Center. The boundaries for this cleanup include bordered by Divisadero, Tulare, P, and U streets.
4. Downtown Fresno – co-hosted by the Downtown Fresno Partnership
The event will clean up the Brewery District downtown bordered by Tulare, G Street, Ventura, and L Street and includes the area bordered by Ventura, Fulton, Santa Clara, and L Street.
5. El Dorado Park Area – co-hosted by co-hosted by Fresno State’s Craig School of Business Marketing Class
This cleanup event will focus on cleaning up the area around El Dorado Park bordered by Barstow and Shaw avenues on the north and south and from Bond Street to Millbrook Avenue to the east and west.
6. Fresno Pacific Area – co-hosted by Every Neighborhood Partnership
This event will clean up the Fresno Pacific University area bordering the campus from Lowe Avenue down to Hamilton Avenue between Chestnut and Winery avenues.
7. Highway City – co-hosted by the Highway City Community Development Corp.
The event will clean up the area bordered by Shaw, Polk, and Gettysburg avenues. This includes the Teague Community Resource Center, Teague Elementary School, and Inspiration Park.
8. Jensen & East – co-hosted by Affinity Truck Center and Ulta Beauty
This cleanup event will clean up in the area bordered by Jensen, Cherry, North, and East avenues.
9. Kings Canyon/Clovis area – co-hosted by Quiring General
This event will clean up the lots next to and behind the Vons Supermarket and Dollar Tree in southeast Fresno.
10. Graffiti/Trash abatement near McKinley and Hwy 168 – co-hosted by the Fresno City College Fire Academy
This event will paint over graffiti along a wall at the bottom of the highway embankment just southeast of McKinley Avenue and Highway 168, along with removing trash on the service trail that runs along the bottom of the embankment (City graffiti crew will supervise.)
11. Melody Park Area – co-hosted by 144th Fighter Wing, Air National Guard
The event will focus on cleaning up Melody Park and around Shields and Fowler avenues.
12. Riverbottom Park – co-hosted by RiverTree Volunteers
The event will clean up along the San Joaquin River and nearby trails near Riverside Golf Course in northwest Fresno.
13. Riverside Golf Course Area – co-hosted by RiverTree Volunteers
The event will clean up the area along the San Joaquin River and nearby areas west of Riverside Golf Course in northwest Fresno.
14. Roosevelt High area – co-hosted by Roosevelt High School Beautify Fresno Club
The event will clean up around Roosevelt High School – between Barton and Maple avenues and between Tulare and Kings Canyon, as well as the commercial area bordered by Huntington/Kings Canyon/Cedar/Barton.
15. SE Fresno (Kings Canyon Corridor) – co-hosted by the Fresno Center
The event will clean up along the north and south sides of Kings Canyon Road, and the adjacent streets and alleys between Chestnut and Peach avenues.
16. Shaw & Cedar Avenue – co-hosted by Fresno State’s Craig School of Business Marketing Class
This cleanup event will focus on cleaning up the intersection of Cedar and Shaw avenues from Shaw to Gettysburg Avenue and Millbrook to Maple avenues.
17. Tower District – co-hosted by Goldstein’s Mortuary & Delicatessen
The event will clean up the Tower District downtown centered around Olive Street and the surrounding business and residential streets between Echo and San Pablo avenues.
18. Ventura/Kings Canyon corridor – co-hosted by the Southeast Fresno Community Economic Development Association (SEFCEDA)
This event will concentrate on cleaning up the Ventura/Kings Canyon corridor from First Street to Chestnut Avenue.
19. Webster Elementary Area – co-hosted by Martin Park
This event will clean up the Webster Elementary area around Olive Avenue and Fresno Street, including surrounding the school and the residential neighborhood north of Olive up to Hedges Avenue.
20. Woodward Park – co-hosted by the Clovis West High School Beautify Fresno Club
The event will clean up inside Woodward Park and portions of the Eaton Trail.
