The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died following a swimming incident at Huntington Lake as Patrick Hyde, 42, of Pasadena.

Hyde died after being submerged for approximately an hour before rescuers recovered him from 15 feet underwater, authorities said.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a report of a missing swimmer around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Hyde had been swimming with a woman who made it safely back to shore, but he did not, authorities said.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the sheriff’s helicopter, EAGLE One, located a person submerged near the docks.

Deputies aboard the helicopter directed a rescue swimmer with the Huntington Lake Volunteer Fire Department to the location.

The rescuer retrieved Hyde from approximately 15 feet underwater and brought him to shore.

CPR was performed, but Hyde was later pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office said Hyde was not wearing a life jacket and had been underwater for approximately one hour.
