Two schools in Hilmar were evacuated as authorities investigated a reported bomb threat at Hilmar Middle School Friday, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office said both Hilmar Middle School and Hilmar High School were evacuated as a precaution.

Deputies are actively investigating the reported threat, according to the agency.

The sheriff’s office said additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
