A Clovis South High School student received an unforgettable 16th birthday present Wednesday when he won a brand-new Toyota Corolla at the Big Fresno Fair.

Gurshaan Singh, an 11th grader, was celebrating his birthday when his name was drawn as the grand prize winner during the fair’s 15th annual “4.0 & Above Program.”

The event, held at the Brian I. Tatarian Grandstand, recognized Fresno County students who earned a 4.0 grade point average or higher during the spring 2026 semester.

This year’s program awarded $120,000 in scholarships and $8,000 in prizes, including laptops, AirPods, and other items, in addition to the new Toyota Corolla, fair officials said.

The annual program recognizes students for academic excellence and encourages them to continue pursuing educational success.

Over its 15-year history, the program has awarded more than $1.1 million in scholarships and given away 14 Toyota Corollas, including Singh’s new vehicle.

The program is supported by presenting sponsor Toyota, along with EECU, Valley Children’s Healthcare, the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, Friends of the Big Fresno Fair, and other community businesses and individuals.

The Big Fresno Fair congratulated Singh and the other students recognized for their academic achievements during Wednesday’s event.
