A Taft man was arrested after Kern County sheriff’s deputies serving a search warrant in Dustin Acres found several rifles, handguns, and large quantities of ammunition, authorities said.

Deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office executed the warrant Saturday in the 28100 block of Dustin Acres Road.

The warrant was part of an investigation into a criminal threat incident in which a firearm was discharged at a residence, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies found Mauro Galvan, 52, of Taft, at the property. A search of the residence uncovered several AR-15-style rifles, multiple handguns, and large quantities of ammunition, according to the sheriff’s office.

Galvan was arrested on a warrant and additional charges. He was booked into the Lerdo Justice Facility on suspicion of grossly negligent discharge of a firearm, criminal threats, possession of a large-capacity magazine, possession of an assault rifle, and possession of an unregistered firearm.
