Fresno police arrested two men after an investigation into a reported firearm brandishing led officers to a Clovis home, where they found a loaded handgun, authorities said.

Officers assigned to the Southeast Policing District’s District Safety Team responded about 5:32 p.m. Sunday to Hammond and Olive avenues after receiving a report of a firearm being brandished.

The victim told officers that several people, including David Jackson and Dayvesha Jackson, had arrived to retrieve car keys. Police said a physical altercation broke out between the victim and Dayvesha Jackson.

During the altercation, David Jackson lifted his shirt and displayed a black handgun in his front waistband, according to police. The group then left the area.

Investigators identified a vehicle recently associated with David Jackson and received an automated license plate reader hit showing the vehicle within the Southeast Policing District. Officers also learned that Dayvesha Jackson had an address in Clovis.

Officers went to the residence and saw the vehicle parked in the driveway. Police said they later watched three people enter the vehicle and drive away before conducting a high-risk traffic stop.

David Jackson was driving and showed signs of intoxication, police said. A Fresno police Motor Unit officer conducted a DUI evaluation, and he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Fresno Police Found Ammo for a Different Weapon

Officers then returned to Dayvesha Jackson’s residence. Police said she initially allowed officers to search the home for the firearm. Officers found ammunition of a different caliber than the firearm registered to her before she withdrew consent for the search.

Officers obtained and served a search warrant at the residence and found a loaded black Springfield firearm registered to Dayvesha Jackson on the floor of the master bedroom. Police said they also found property belonging to David Jackson in the bedroom near the firearm.

As officers were leaving the residence, they stopped another vehicle that police said was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The driver, Muhammad Conley, was on active PRCS supervision and subject to search and seizure, according to police. Officers searched the vehicle and found 9mm ammunition and a loaded magazine.

Conley was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on weapons-related charges and an alleged violation of his PRCS supervision.
