A 59-year-old man was arrested after Visalia police said he tried to run from a residence during a probation search while carrying about half a pound of methamphetamine.

The Visalia Police Department’s Narcotics Unit, assisted by the HOPE Unit, conducted the probation search Wednesday in the 900 block of West Walnut Avenue.

Police said Kyle Rupp tried to flee the residence when officers arrived, but officers caught him before he could get away.

During the search, officers also seized items associated with drug sales, money, and a shaved key, police said.

Rupp was booked on narcotics and property-related offenses, as well as a probation violation.
