A man was arrested after allegedly strangling and slapping a woman during a domestic violence incident while she was holding their 2-year-old daughter, Fresno police told GV Wire.

Officers responded at about 11:10 p.m. Aug. 19 to a reported domestic violence disturbance involving Aaron Reyes.

Police said Reyes and the victim were arguing when the confrontation became physical. Reyes allegedly slapped the victim with an open hand on the right side of her face, causing a visible injury.

The victim was holding the couple’s 2-year-old daughter at the time of the assault, police said.

Reyes then allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat with one hand and applied pressure, leaving visible injuries to her neck that police said were consistent with strangulation.

Reyes was arrested on charges related to the investigation and booked into the Fresno County Jail.
