A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck Peru on Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake occurred at 11:00 a.m. Pacific time about 24 miles northwest of Upahuacho, Peru, the USGS reported. It was centered at a depth of about 41 miles.

The agency said the earthquake’s location had an uncertainty of about 4.6 miles, while its depth had an uncertainty of about 4 miles.

The magnitude and location data were reviewed by a scientist, according to the USGS.

The agency reported that 123 stations and 123 phases were used in determining the earthquake’s origin.
