A magnitude 3.6 earthquake was reported Thursday morning near Toms Place in Mono County, according to United States Geological Survey data.

The earthquake struck at 8:34 a.m. PT Thursday about 9 miles southwest of Toms Place, near the California-Nevada border region, according to the Northern California Seismic Network. The quake was recorded at a depth of about 4.5 miles.

The earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 3.63 and was detected by 28 seismic stations. Scientists listed the earthquake’s location at 37.503 degrees north latitude and 118.839 degrees west longitude.
