A Pismo Beach man was arrested after investigators said he intentionally vandalized three automated license plate recognition cameras in Monterey County, causing thousands of dollars in damage.
According to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, detectives identified 40-year-old Marcus Bee as the suspect after an investigation into damage to Flock Safety Automated License Plate Recognition cameras in the Lockwood and Bradley communities.
Investigators said Bee traveled to Monterey County and damaged multiple cameras, but the alleged vandalism was captured by nearby surveillance cameras. The footage, along with other investigative leads, helped detectives identify Bee, officials said.
Bee was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail on a felony vandalism charge. His bail was set at $30,000.
Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto said the arrest shows that those who damage public safety equipment will be held accountable.
