Fresno police arrested five drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence during a traffic enforcement operation targeting street racing and car meet activity Sunday evening.

The Fresno Police Department’s Traffic Unit conducted focused enforcement July 19 at several known street racing and car meet locations throughout the city.

Officers responded to four locations with reported car meet and street racing activity, along with additional calls related to the gatherings. Police said some locations had small groups of vehicles, while others drew crowds of more than 200 people. Enforcement actions were taken, and the groups quickly dispersed.

During the operation, officers stopped 54 vehicles and issued 51 citations. Police also towed three vehicles, made one state referral, arrested four people on misdemeanor charges, arrested five drivers on suspicion of DUI and made one felony arrest.
