The Fresno Police Department arrested 21 drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence on Saturday.

According to the department, drivers convicted of a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, along with a suspended driver’s license.

Police said another DUI enforcement operation is scheduled for Aug. 1. The department also plans to conduct DUI enforcement patrols and checkpoints throughout the year.

The department said funding for the enforcement program was provided through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
