Firefighters extinguished a fire Thursday on E Street on the south side of Madera before any structures were damaged, according to the Madera Police Department.

Police thanked the Madera Fire Department for its response, saying crews prevented damage to nearby structures, including a cell tower.

The department also thanked multiple residents who called 911 after spotting the fire, saying their reports helped enable the rapid response.
