Clovis Police have arrested two 18-year-old men accused of robbing a teenager at gunpoint and stealing cash and his shoes.

Officers responded shortly after 4 p.m. Monday to the area of Shaw and Minnewawa avenues for a report of a prior armed robbery in a parking lot.

Police said a 17-year-old victim was walking with several other people when one suspect pulled out a handgun and another suspect took about $600 in cash from his pocket, along with the shoes he was wearing. The suspects left before officers arrived.

Officers canvassed the area and collected surveillance footage during the investigation. Hours later, police were notified the suspects and their vehicle had returned to a nearby retail parking lot.

Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and detained five people inside the vehicle. Following the investigation, two occupants were arrested in connection with the robbery.

Ernest Taylor and Marzette Hanks, both 18, were booked into the Fresno County Jail on robbery charges, police said.

Investigators recovered the stolen cash after searching the area and a nearby home. The handgun used in the robbery and the victim’s shoes have not been recovered.

No injuries were reported.
