A magnitude 4.3 earthquake was reported Monday morning near Randsburg, California, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The earthquake struck at 9:40 a.m. PT, about 9 miles west-southwest of Randsburg, at a depth of 5.6 miles.

The quake was detected by 30 stations and was automatically generated by the earthquake monitoring system, the data had not yet been reviewed by a scientist.

No additional information about damage or injuries was immediately available.

Update at 9:50 a.m.

After the data was reviewed, the epicenter location was updated to Johannesburg.
