A 19-year-old man died after a shooting at a northwest Fresno apartment complex, and a 13-year-old juvenile has been arrested on a manslaughter charge, according to the Fresno Police Department.

On Tuesday, at about 8:04 p.m., Northwest Policing District officers responded to the Reflections Apartment Complex at Barstow and Brawley avenues after reports of a gunshot in the area, police said. Officers checked the location but did not find evidence of a shooting at that time.

At 8:23 p.m., police received an update that a shooting victim was inside an apartment at the complex.

Officers located Edgar Hernandez, 19, inside an apartment suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was treated but later died, police said.

Homicide detectives determined during their investigation that a 13-year-old juvenile was responsible for the shooting. The juvenile was arrested and booked at the Juvenile Justice Campus on a manslaughter charge.
