Two men were arrested after Tulare County Sheriff’s Office detectives recovered a stolen golf cart and other property taken from an elementary school in Orosi, authorities said.

Deputies were called around 4 a.m. Wednesday to Golden Valley Elementary School for a report of a stolen golf cart. When they arrived, detectives learned the golf cart had been taken from school grounds and that multiple sections of fencing had been damaged, resulting in additional property loss and damage.

During the investigation, detectives located the stolen golf cart near Avenue 413 and Road 127 in Orosi. Authorities identified Miguel Fernandez, 29, and Jesus Fernandez, 25, as suspects and arrested them.

A search of the suspects’ home led detectives to additional property that had been stolen from Golden Valley Elementary School, according to the sheriff’s office.

Both men were booked on theft and vandalism charges. Authorities said all recovered property, including the golf cart and other stolen items, was returned to school staff.
