A man wanted on multiple violent felony charges was arrested Monday in Coalinga after officers located him near his residence, authorities said.

The Coalinga Police Department said it was notified Sunday by the Watsonville Police Department that Hipolito Meza, 62, was believed to be hiding in Coalinga.

Meza was wanted on an active Ramey warrant for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and participation in a criminal street gang, all stemming from alleged offenses outside Coalinga.

Officers located Meza at about 10:15 a.m. Monday near his residence and took him into custody without incident, police said.

He was later turned over to Watsonville detectives for booking into their county jail.
