Caltrans will close the Chestnut Avenue overcrossing at Highway 99 in Fresno County on Wednesday for bridge work, with traffic shifts and detours planned during the midday hours, officials said.

The closure is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. as crews perform maintenance operations along the overcrossing.

During the closure, northbound traffic on Chestnut Avenue will be diverted to the southbound Highway 99 onramp at the overcrossing. Southbound motorists on Chestnut Avenue will be able to make a U-turn at Cartwright Avenue or access Golden State Boulevard.

Caltrans said motorists should plan ahead and use alternate routes as needed. Officials noted that closures could extend longer if delays occur due to weather or other uncontrollable conditions, though work is weather permitting.

Drivers are urged to use extra caution in the work zone, allow additional travel time, remain alert for road maintenance personnel, and follow “Slow for the Cone Zone” guidance.
