Reedley Police Arrest 5 After Graduation Ceremony Disturbance

Five people were arrested following a disturbance during graduation ceremonies at Reedley High School Stadium Tuesday, according to the Reedley Police Department.

Police said the incident occurred while officers were providing security assistance for Kings Canyon Unified School District’s Adult School and Mountain View Schools graduation ceremonies.

Officers responded to a disturbance involving multiple graduates and attendees and took enforcement action to restore order, police said.

Those arrested were identified by police as, Adam Velasquez, 19, on suspicion of disturbing the peace;  Jonathan Melena Garcia, 19, on suspicion of disturbing the peace; Mariano Malena Garcia, 22, on suspicion of obstruction of a peace officer; Nicholas Perez, 18, on suspicion of disturbing the peace; and Andrew Velasquez, 20, on suspicion of disturbing the peace.

The Reedley Police Department said investigators are reviewing video footage and other evidence related to the incident. Additional arrests or charges could follow as the investigation continues.
