A man was stabbed multiple times Tuesday afternoon during a disturbance at Fresno’s Courthouse Park, and a suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, authorities said.
The incident happened around 12:15 p.m. outdoors between the Hall of Records and the main Fresno County Superior Courthouse, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies working at the courthouse responded after a disturbance broke out between two men. One of the men collapsed after being stabbed multiple times, authorities said.
Deputies rushed to the scene and provided medical aid to the victim until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he was reported to be in serious condition. Authorities said he is expected to survive.
Witnesses identified the suspect, and deputies quickly took him into custody, the sheriff’s office said.
The suspect was identified as Alexander Resendiz, 25. He is being booked into the Fresno County Jail on a charge of attempted homicide.
Investigators are working to determine a motive and whether the two men knew each other.
