Races to fill the seven Fresno County Superior Court judge seats have produced early results, with some candidates taking strong early leads.
As of Friday, for Superior Court Judge No. 3, Marc Kapetan has claimed 55.38% of the vote compared to Rosalina Nunez, who holds 44.35%. With only two candidates for this seat, the winner in the primary will likely take the seat outright, barring strong write-in results.
As of Wednesday, June 9, Kapetan’s lead fell to 53.04%. Nunez saw an increase to 46.73%.
For Seat No. 6, Ashley Paulson has taken the lead with 47.12% of the vote, while Steven Ueltzen holds 29.84% and Deidre Adams holds 22.80%. If Paulson cannot claim more than 50% by the time results are reported, the race will go to a runoff in November.
“The initial results are extremely humbling, and I’m grateful to the voters of Fresno County for voting for me to serve as their next Superior Court judge,” Paulson said in a statement to GV Wire.
Jeff Hammerschmidt currently stands with 49.58% of the vote, while Jose Salazar and Curtis Sok trail with 34.88% and 15.26%, respectively.
In a statement to GV Wire, Salazar congratulated Hammerschmidt on his lead.
“I am incredibly proud of the campaign I ran,” Salazar said. “Earning a strong second-place finish is a major accomplishment, especially as the judicial candidate with the least amount of money in the race.”
As the only candidate for Seat No. 8, Daniel Brickey has the seat all but officially secured, taking 98.78% of the vote.
