Fresno police arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with a series of high-value LEGO thefts at Target stores in Fresno and Clovis, authorities said on Monday.

The Fresno Police Department said Northeast District Organized Retail Theft detectives investigated the thefts after Target loss prevention employees reported the incidents.

According to police, surveillance video showed the suspect selecting a large LEGO set and a smaller, low-cost toy before going to a self-checkout area.

Investigators said the suspect scanned and paid for the smaller toy but left the store with both items, including the unpaid LEGO set.

Detectives identified the suspect and arrested him on suspicion of grand theft and possession of stolen property. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail, police said.

Authorities also served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence, where detectives recovered more than 800 collectible toys with an estimated value exceeding $5,000.

Police said the recovered property will be inventoried and returned to Target.
