A reported threat at Yosemite High School prompted a lockdown Tuesday afternoon while deputies searched the campus and surrounding area, authorities said.
The Madera County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report of a potential threat at about 1:20 p.m. Deputies responded and conducted a thorough sweep of the school and nearby grounds, the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators found no evidence of a threat, the sheriff’s office said. The lockdown that was in place during the investigation has since been lifted.
Detectives continued Tuesday to investigate the origin of the phone call that prompted the response.
“Threats made to harm students are taken very seriously, regardless if the suspect intended to carry out the act,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
