Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday announced he is issuing $50,000 rewards for tips that may help solve a series of unsolved homicide cases across California, including several in Fresno and surrounding communities, in an effort to help families find long-awaited answers.

“Every family deserves answers and justice,” Newsom said in a statement. “These rewards send a message that every case matters.”

Among the Central California cases highlighted were multiple killings in Fresno, where investigators are still seeking leads years after the incidents.

Sarah Roberts, 26, was shot Dec. 31, 2011, as she left a party in central Fresno. Investigators believe she may have been caught in gunfire between rival gangs. Authorities ask anyone with information to contact Fresno Police Department Sergeant Christine Leyva at (559) 621-2456.

In 2016, William Harris, 17, and Kayla DeBorde, 19, were fatally shot during a party in Fresno after a fight broke out between rival groups. The case remains unsolved, with investigators seeking information on unidentified suspects. If you have information, contact the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department at (559) 600-8204.

More recently, Kyrin Wright, 19, was killed in May 2021 outside his apartment complex in Fresno, and Jacqueline Flores, 25, was fatally shot in July 2021 while sitting in her vehicle with her six-year-old daughter. Both cases remain open and if you have information, contact Fresno Police Department Detective Chris Franks at (559) 621-2427.

Officials said the rewards are part of a broader statewide push covering dozens of cold cases from Northern California to the Southern California coast, including homicides, missing persons, and other long-unsolved violent crimes.
