A magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck about 11 miles southeast of Silver Springs, Nevada, at 10:23 a.m. PT  on Wednesday, according to automatic seismic data.

The quake occurred at a depth of 13.8 kilometers, with an estimated magnitude uncertainty of plus or minus 0.2, according to preliminary readings.

The event was recorded automatically and has not yet been reviewed by a scientist, according to seismic monitoring data.
