Modesto police are investigating a suspicious package in the 1200 block of Woodrow Avenue on Tuesday, according to authorities.

As a precaution, nearby schools were placed on lockdown while officers assessed the situation.

Police said they expect a presence in the area as the investigation continues to ensure public safety.
