A Victorville man was arrested this week after police say he stole more than 1,000 gallons of diesel from local gas stations, causing roughly $13,000 in losses.
Coalinga Police officers first responded to a vandalism and theft at a Chevron station on W. Elm Avenue on March 13. Police reported that roughly 500 gallons of diesel were stolen.
Surveillance footage showed a 2000 Ford F-250, registered to Angel Fonseca, parked at a diesel pump for about an hour.
Police later linked Fonseca to a second diesel theft at the same station on Thursday. where another 500 gallons of diesel went missing.
Detectives tracked Fonseca to Bakersfield and Kettleman City, where he was allegedly stealing fuel from a Valero station.
He was arrested Saturday for felony grand theft and felony vandalism.
Fonseca, who has prior burglary and theft convictions, was booked into Fresno County Jail.
Police said the investigation will continue in coordination with Kings County authorities.
