A wildfire that broke out Tuesday afternoon near South Monterey Avenue and West Elkhorn Avenue in Cantua Creek has been fully contained, according to CalFire.

The Monterey Fire began around 1:23 p.m. and burned approximately 180 acres in rural western Fresno County. Officials reported in a statement that the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

A CalFire spokesperson told GV Wire that the fire was surrounded by roads, which made it easier for fire personnel to contain.

No structures were threatened or damaged, and no injuries or fatalities were reported.

All firefighting resources have been released, and the incident was declared fully contained by 3:04 p.m., CalFire Fresno-Kings Unit said in a update.
