Henry Joseph Garcia, 49, is accused of having more than 400 grams of a substance containing fentanyl and two loaded firearms on May 13, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California.
Prosecutors allege Garcia intended to distribute the fentanyl and had the firearms to further his drug trafficking activities. He was formally charged following an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Clovis Police Department.
If convicted, Garcia faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison and could receive up to life in prison and a $10 million fine.
Authorities emphasized that the charges are allegations and Garcia is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
