With the final touches being put on the north Fresno Sam’s Club Fuel, the opening will be right around the corner.

The warehouse club expects to open the 16-pump gas station at 7663 N. Blackstone Ave. next week, pending final city approvals, according to a Walmart spokesperson.

Sam’s Club Typically Cheaper Than Average Gas Prices

The retailer’s discount gas typically runs cheaper than most brands, according to GasBuddy.com.

In 2022, Consumer Reports stated warehouse club gas prices typically are 5 cents to 25 cents cheaper than average nationwide.

However, the discounts are even steeper for California drivers, who often face the highest prices in the country because of taxes, fees, and aging refineries that are periodically off-line.

In Sacramento, two Sam’s Club gas stations were charging $4.19 and another was charging $4.35 Tuesday, according to Gas Buddy. The city’s average gas price cost Tuesday was $4.73.

The $4.04 charged at the Gardena Sam’s Club came in less than the $4.76 average throughout the L.A. Metro.

Getting gas at Sam’s Club does require a membership, which can range from $50 a year to $110 a year.

Plans for the gas station between Lowe’s and Sam’s Club date back to 2019.
