Fresno police officers who conduct DUI checkpoints have a tip for sports fans, especially those watching Sunday’s Super Bowl: “There’s no DUI in TEAM.”
Their advice for anyone drinking at a Super Bowl party is to arrange a sober way to get home.
California’s “Go Safely” game plan page offers these tips:
- Plan Ahead — Before you grab a drink, make sure you’ve got a designated sober driver.
- Share a Ride — Have been drinking and don’t have a ride home? Use a bus, taxi, or ride-hailing service.
- Keep Your Friends Safe — Don’t let your friends and relatives drive while impaired.
The Fresno Police Department says that it will have a DUI checkpoint and extra officers patrolling the streets during Super Bowl weekend.
And, remember, alcohol isn’t the only substance that impairs driving. Marijuana, prescription medications, and over-the-counter drugs may also impact your ability to drive safely.
