Fresno Unified Trustee Susan Wittrup used her closing remarks on GV Wire’s “Unfiltered” show on Tuesday night to warn voters against candidates who “wreck the system with words” but lack concrete plans when it comes to the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools election.
Representing the Bullard High School area, Wittrup emphasized that real accountability in education is “quiet,” driven by consistent, measurable actions rather than rhetoric.
She urged viewers to scrutinize candidates’ track records and demand verifiable results, particularly on student outcomes like reading achievement.
Framing the stakes as urgent, she encouraged the public to look for leaders with proven experience and a clear, actionable plan for improving Fresno Unified, arguing that meaningful progress could reshape the community’s future for generations.
FCOE Forum Set for Monday
The candidates vying for the position are former Parlier Unified Assistant Superintendent Dr. Johnny Alvarado, incumbent Fresno County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michele Cantwell-Copher, and former Clovis Unified Superintendent Dr. Eimear O’Brien.
GV Wire, in partnership with the Community Media Access Collaborative, will host a candidates forum for Fresno County Superintendent of Schools.
The forum is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, May 4.
