Can Infants Learn Math? A Program in Fresno Explores the Possibilities
Share
EdSource reporter Ashleigh Panoo, who covers the Central Valley, has written a story about a state-backed pilot program exploring whether infants can learn math.
The demonstration site for the California Early Math Initiative is the Lighthouse Child Development Center in downtown Fresno.
As Panoo explains, the Fresno County Office of Education was awarded $11.2 million from the state in 2018 to develop a training model for those who care for children from birth to 8 years old.
Then, this summer, Gov. Gavin Newsom approved $35 million to continue the project and further its reach into school districts, preschools, and child care centers.
