George the Giraffe, the longtime mascot of Valley Children’s Hospital, soon will be available with the push of a button.

“Castle on the Coast” follows a highly acrobatic George as he explores a magic castle and encounters many challenges. Players can guide him and collect special gems as he passes each level. The game is appropriate for children 6 and up.

The hospital announced Wednesday that George, a comforting face to thousands of Valley families, is starring in a video game titled “Castle on the Coast.”

The game, which Valley Children’s described as “a hand-drawn retro 3D platformer” will be released in PC and Nintendo Switch versions on Thursday, Dec. 2.

A portion of proceeds from the game’s sales will support patient programs at the hospital, officials said.

“Valley Children’s is driven by preserving the joy of childhood for every patient we are privileged to care for,” Valley Children’s Healthcare President/CEO Todd Suntrapak said in a news release.

“Whether it is a book featuring our beloved mascot, George, or a plush animal in his likeness, we are grateful for the chance to share that love and joy with our families.”

First Video Game by a Children’s Hospital

Suntrapak said the video game is “the first of its kind produced by a children’s hospital (and) another way we can bring some fun into the lives of the kids we see.”

The game was made through a partnership involving the hospital, Big Heart Productions, and the Polish video game publisher Klabater.
