More than eighth-tenths of an inch of rain has fallen in Fresno since Friday. And, while not a “March Miracle,” this latest storm has pushed the monthly total to 2 inches — with the promise of more Thursday.
Here are a few updated numbers for precipitation fanatics courtesy of the National Weather Service.
Fresno is at 5.51 inches for the 2019-20 water year through Tuesday. That compares to an average of 9.72 inches through the end of March and the full-season average of 11.50 inches.

River Flows

The Kings River is flowing at 40% of its historic natural flow average, the San Joaquin is at 32%, and the Kaweah is at 28%. Other San Joaquin Valley river basins: Stanislaus 50%, Tuolumne 43%, Merced 35%, Tule 24%, and Kern 45%.

Snowpack

The statewide snowpack based on snow sensors is 14.5 inches and that corresponds to 51% of the April 1 average. Since March 18, the statewide snowpack snow water content has increased 1.1 inches.
The snowpack as of this morning:

Region Snow Water Content (inches) % of April 1 Average % of March 25 Average
Northern 15.5 53 53
Central 16.4 55 55
Southern 10.7 42 42
