The longer the season goes on, the better the Fresno State women’s basketball team gets.
With junior forward Maddi Utti notching her 1,000th career point, grabbing 16 rebounds, and recording six assists, the Bulldogs overwhelmed Wyoming, 89-59, Saturday at the Save Mart Center.

On Monday, the conference announced Utti as the Mountain West Player of the Week for the second straight week and for the third time in her career.

Fresno State Is Undefeated in the Mountain West

Fresno State is 7-0 in the Mountain West and 14-4 overall. Wyoming dropped to 4-4 in conference and 8-9 overall.
Utti joined the 1,000 point club with 1 minute, 2 seconds left in the third quarter on a fastbreak layup off a feed from Kendyll Kinzer. Utti finished the game with 11 points.
“Proud of Maddi. Her shot wasn’t falling early, but she hung in there and kept trying and just a warrior,” said Bulldogs coach Jaime White. “Maddi works hard every day, whether she plays 40 minutes or not, she comes and plays as hard as anybody.”

Cavinder Twins Combine for 39 Points

The Cavinder twins powered the Bulldogs offense. Hanna Cavinder made 7-of-11 from the field and was 5-of-5 from the free-throw line for 20 points to go with six assists. Haley Cavinder made five 3-pointers en route to 19 points.
Fresno State made 8 of its first 10 shots to take an 18-5 lead and stretched it to 23 points at halftime.
